A big thank you to Mary Byrne for coming along to July's monthly meeting to critique members' work. The session was very enjoyable, with lots of constructive and welcome comments from Mary.
Mary is a writer as well as an artist and her art work is about imagined stories. She paints and draws and also composes digital collages with narrative themes. She is fascinated by the past. Sometimes work is inspired by discarded old photos: who are these people, what lives did they have? Even their appearance can be uncertain as the image is often damaged. Sometimes she is inspired by her own photographs and other images to invent a narrative - a mysterious, slightly surreal story where nothing is clear.
Mary has degrees in Fine Art and English Literature as well as a PGCE. She exhibits widely and teaches art to adults in the Loughborough area. She is also the Secretary of Leicester Writers’ Club.
