Shaun Crane

Shaun has a love for being out and about surrounded by nature and the elements. Whilst he is walking, taking in the view and the weather’s various moods, ideas start to come together for drawings/paintings of figures within the surrounding landscape.

Some of Shaun's sketching is done on site and others are inspired by photographs of him or his partner composed within a landscape. He also attends life and portraiture workshops to gather information for the figures and faces that become part of his landscapes.

After sorting through sketches, some of them grow into paintings. Shaun works mostly in acrylic, with lots of coloured washes. He also works on top of some of his acrylic paintings in other mediums such as charcoal and pastel. Charcoal is his favourite medium so it tends to creep into the paintings now and again.
