Judy Merriman

Judy moved to painting from a calligraphy background. She now paints in oil and watercolour and also uses mixed media whether it is portrait, life, still life or landscape. Her training was at Bournemouth Art College and she now exhibits in Rutland, Leicestershire and Lincolnshire.

Judy's year is divided between West Africa and Rutland. It is the bold rich colours of The Gambia and the Gambian people that inspire her  figurative and portrait oil paintings and this can also influence her still life paintings.

In 2015 Judy was awarded the Goldmark prize at the Rutland Open Studios and in 2013, 2018 and 2019 the Gladys Teasdale prize at the Welland Valley Arts Society.
