Bill Benbow
Painter: Acrylic on canvas Bill alternates between using watercolour, pastel, charcoal, oil and alkyd. He likes to experiment with the materials, often mixing types. Bill had always enjoyed art at school, but pursued a career in engineering, studying for qualifications at night school. He had got to a point where I wanted to study a subject that was completely non-academic, something that was not linked to work. He enrolled with Norman Sims' class, and his approach and enthusiasm led Bill to become a founding committee member for the Birstall & District Art Society, where he is still an active member. Bill has submitted a piece of work at their annual exhibition each year since 1995. His main emphasis is portraiture; and he love works by John Singer-Sargent, Robert Bevan, Edward Seago, Robert Lenkiewicz, Sebastien Lebeaut, William Orpen Other societies & associations: Birstall and District Art Society |
