Become a Sketch Club member
The Leicester Sketch Club aims to encourage the artistic development of all its members, from professional artists, to developing amateur artists, through a busy yearly programme which includes demonstrations, talks, critiques, workshops, indoor and outdoor sketching days, an annual exhibition and other social events. Join our friendly and talented artists for fun activities and creative adventures! The minimum age for membership is 18. How to join We have two different types of membership: Full Membership Associate Membership Full Membership includes eligibility to show work in exhibitions, particularly the Annual Exhibition each year. This is the main difference from Associate Membership. You may also bring work to critiques, come to monthly meetings, workshops and sketching events, and have your own profile page here on the LSC website. Full Membership is based on a selection process and the final decision for acceptance rests with the committee. To become a Full Member you need to submit five pieces of your work, three of which must be of exhibition standard, to be reviewed by members of the committee. These must reflect your current work (ideally within the last 3 years), and should be mounted or framed to a good standard. We are also keen to see any sketchbooks and/or preparatory work you would like to show us, though we realise that this may not be appropriate for all artists. Again, these should reflect your current work. Full Membership is £30 per year. Or £15 from July 1 for the first year. Membership is open all year round. Members joining now will join for the second half of 2026. The fees are £15 for full membership and £10 for Associate membership for the half year to December. Full Membership Application form 2026 Associate members do not go through the review process of showing their work in order to join. They may not yet have been accepted for Full Membership or may have chosen not to apply for it. It is well worth joining the club as an Associate member. We offer Associate members a club full of artists with all different levels of skill, knowledge and experience. As an Associate you will find that you can learn from other members and develop as an artist. We aim to provide activities to help all members to develop their artwork and get more out of their interest in art. The club is full of talented artists whose work is inspiring and who will be generous with their support. For some Associate Members mentoring by another artist of their choice has proved very successful. Many new active members are surprised at how their art can expand with new ideas and techniques to try. Of course as an Associate you can develop at your own pace and as your life allows you to. We are a good club of friends too. Associates can include those who may have an appreciation and enthusiasm for art, without necessarily being an artist themselves. Associate membership also gives you the chance to experience the club before full membership. Associates do not submit work for critiques or exhibitions, but are welcome to all monthly meetings, workshops, trips and sketching days. Associate membership is £20 per year or £10 from July 1 for the first year.
