David has enjoyed drawing and painting from an early age, but did not develop his talent following school days, choosing to pursue an engineering career which would lead him to become a Professional Chartered Electrical Engineer. In 1994 after achieving most of his career goals he started to draw and paint again and in 1996 David joined Kirby Bellars Group of Artists (now folded) and recently has re-joined Desford and Peckleton Art Group. In his paintings he is always trying to the capture light, mood and atmosphere. Light being the most important element, be it on buildings, structures or the sparkle of reflected light from the sea, rivers or puddles. This passion for light has driven him to favour coastal and estuary scenes where the light quality always appears superior. He works in oil, acrylic, watercolour and mixed media, but prefers watercolour, enjoying the challenge of this free-flowing medium. |
