Maria Potempski
My work is unashamedly decorative and colourful. The aim is simply to be joyous. I like to experiment with painterly techniques, combining acrylic and watercolour paint with mono-print, drawing with inks and pastels and collage, in short ‘mixed-media’ allowing me to create individualistic visual stories. Subject matter is very organic and based on landscape, and my garden which I love. They inspire me with their colour, atmosphere and mood that I hope to capture using mixed-media. I hope they delight the eye. The work is often small and intimate, done with the intention of sharing a sense of place, and as seasons change, it also affords me the opportunity to play with light and colour. My Fine Art training was at Nottingham Trent University, and Foundation studies at Bolton College of Art. My work was recently exhibited at the Tarpey and Sock galleries in 2025. I’m also an exhibiting member of Nottingham Society of Artists and have exhibited in a number of their exhibitions throughout 2024 & 2025. I was chosen to exhibit with two other artists at their Friar Lane gallery this September ’25, for a week’s show exploring ‘Elements of Abstraction’. I’ve taken part in Art House Leicester in 2024 & 25 and intend to do so in future years. I was long listed for the ‘Visual Artists Open ‘24’ by the Visual Artists Association in London, and currently show at the White Dove Gallery, Shenton. I’m also very pleased to say that I won Leicester Sketch Club’s ‘Bryan Ward’ prize in 2024. Links to web & Instagram www.maria-potempski-visual-artist.com @mariapotempski1 |
