Special General Meeting
Wednesday 4th July @ 7pm
Immediately before the July Monthly Meeting Hello Members, from previous emails you will have gathered by now that the committee is in serious need of volunteers for membership, treasurer and workshop bookings in order for the club to function next year. Although response has been limited, we are pleased that some Associate members have very kindly come forward offering their skills. (But more volunteers are needed, especially for a treasurer.) The committee has a dilemma; a club rule that Associates may not be on the committee, or in a position of government within the club! The committee understands that when this rule was established it was a perfectly reasonable condition. However, as technology and art management skill sets have developed, the needs of the committee have changed too. We have valued members with time and skills and we would very much like to accept their help. Many Associates already give their time to help with refreshments, room layout, and the raffle and are a very welcome resource at exhibition times. The committee therefore needs your support to override this rule. We will convene a Special General Meeting to make the rule change official. It will be a single item agenda and, if we are in agreement, the meeting will be short. So, this is to give notice that the SGM will take place at the July Monthly Meeting. We will start at 7.00 p.m. immediately preceding Scott Bridgwood’s critique. He is OK about this arrangement. The Agenda for the SGM is available for download here.
