LEICESTER SKETCH CLUB ANNUAL ART EXHIBITION 2014

20th- 27thSeptember 2014
Guildhall _ Leicester
President: Barbara Hatton

The 2014 Summer Exhibition was held at Leicester's medieval Guildhall in the heart of the city for the first time in recent years. The location proved to be a great success with high numbers of visitors and over a dozen paintings sold.  There were 118 framed works exhibited, along with browser and artists' cards.

This year's exhibition was kindly sponsored by Leicester-based company Stor-a-File.

There was a large article in the Leisure Painter magazine, an article in 'The Artist' magazine, a half page spread in Leicester Link and an interview with members Emma Fitzpatrick and Scott Bridgwood on BBC Radio Leicester's Saturday show by Monica Winfield.

We wish to thank Matthew Constantine from the New Walk Museum for opening the Exhibition and selecting the Leicester Sketch Club Prize which went to Milan Popovich 'Sunset' and to thank all those who worked so hard on this exhibition.

The Leicester Society of Artists Prize was selected by Christopher Bent and Jane French and went to Jill Hailes 'Fruit & Flowers'

The Bryan Ward Memorial Prize was selected by the LSC Committee and went to Lyn Armitage – 'Staffordshire Fields'

Other prizes have been generously donated by:
  • West End Gallery, Highcross Street, Leicester –
    Kim Hall 'Stillness'
  • A & G Picture Framers, Makers Yard, Leicester -
    Christine Broadbent 'Wolf'
  • On the Edge Picture Framing, Market Harborough – for the People's Favourite Painting Marjorie Walter's 'Hard Times'.
Congratulations to all and we look forward to next year!
