LSC SKETCH DAY AT KIRBY HALL - 17TH JUNE 2021
We are delighted to be visiting the beautiful Kirby Hall, near Corby, in Northamptonshire for one of our sketching days in this Summer and we hope many of our members will be able to join us.
Kirby Hall is one of England’s greatest Elizabethan and Jacobean houses, once owned by Sir Christopher Hatton, Lord Chancellor to Queen Elizabeth I. It is partly roofless, with beautiful ruined areas delightful to sketch, and with a number of indoor rooms, including the Great Hall, which have been restored authentically for the period. The gardens are extensive and there also areas of parkland with great views of the house, ideal for sketching.
Parking is approximately 100m from the entrance, but drop offs are possible at the entrance as long as the vehicle is returned to the car park immediately after. If anyone would like a lift from the car park up to the entrance, please let a member of the Committee know and we will arrange it with you.
We are aiming to arrive between 10 and 11am and will have until 5pm to sketch and explore the site. There are toilet facilities and a shop on site, and visitors are asked to wear a mask in indoor areas, and observe social distancing rules both indoors and outside.
NB. English Heritage are requiring all visitors to book their ticket online at present, to manage visitor numbers and to ensure compliance with NHS Track and Trace requirements. Once you have booked your ticket you will receive a confirmation email with an attachment containing your ticket and a bar code and QR code, which will be scanned on arrival to allow access to the site. You will need either to bring and show the email on a your mobile or print out the attachment with the bar code and bring it with you. (If you do not have a printer a member of the Committee can print it out for you if you forward it to them.) Without this English Heritage cannot allow access to the site.
To book your ticket go to the Kirby Hall page on the English Heritage website and click the Book Your Ticket button or follow the link below
https://www.english-heritage.org.uk/visit/places/kirby-hall/
Prices are Standard Adult £9 00 Concessions (Over 65) £8 10. If you would like to make a donation with your ticket (90p) this will be added to the cost on selection of the appropriate ticket. English Heritage Members have free entry but please remember to bring your card with you on the day, and you must still book as above and show your printout to gain entry.
When booking you will be asked to select a time slot. Select 10am or later if you wish. All time slots have limited numbers to comply with current Coronavirus regulations, but you can arrive up to an hour after the start of your time slot, so there is plenty of leeway.
You will also be asked to provide your personal details twice, once to book your ticket and once for the purposes of Track and Trace.
Note: There is quite a lot of information to fill in and the booking process has a time limit of 15 minutes to complete. It is really worthwhile going through it without actually booking first to see what information is required. It saves time when actually booking.
Please let us know as well that you will be coming (email [email protected]).
We hope you will be able to come and look forward to seeing you there!
