Let's Draw Iskcon building (Leicester Banking Co.) Granby St
Hosted by Urban Sketchers Leicester 16th June - 11am - 3.30pm 31 Granby Street, LE1 6EJ Leicester, United Kingdom 11am prompt for intro - Meet inside the main entrance to the building, where we will have a 5 minute introductory talk by the Grant & Heritage Officer of the building, who will also be showing one of the original 1873 architectural drawing books by Joseph Goddard. Please arrive in good time. If you can't make it for 11 don't worry, just turn up as and when you can. We will then have a couple of hours to sketch the main banking hall, the exterior of the building (including views from the rear car park), plus special access to the worship room & shrine upstairs, offering a chance to draw in a very meditative environment. Please note that while access to the banking hall is unrestricted, the lift to the first floor is presently out of order and the worship room is only accessible via stairs. 1pm - Meet back in the banking hall to view work and take a group photo. Have lunch/ coffee in the local vicinity for those that would like to - it's a chance to chat, share tips and look at sketchpads, work etc, and then head back to the building to draw. There are so many architectural features at this site that there's no shortage of viewpoints 3.30pm - Meet back at banking hall to have a look at the afternoon's work, and decide on the day if would like to go for coffee/ drink somewhere locally...
